An inspirational 12-year-old from Hamilton has been given a new lease of independence thanks to support from a National Children’s Charity.
Shriya Shah, has right sided hemiplegic cerebral palsy, which has drastically reduced her ability to move around, often leaving her in pain and exhausted. Despite the condition Shriya tries to lead as normal a life as possible, attending a mainstream School and dreams of meeting up with friends. In recent years this has become increasingly difficult as she has had to miss days off School because of increasing levels of pain.
The support of the Boparan Charitable Trust has helped to provide Shriya with a specialist powered wheelchair, offering her the chance for increased mobility and to have the chance of independently enjoying trips to the cinema and other activities with friends.
Kayleigh Biggs Events and Fundraising Manager for “It was great to see Shriya getting to grips with her new wheelchair and the difference it will make for small things like an independent trip to the cinema”.
Shriya’s mother Bhavisha said “Thank you from the bottom of my heart, The Boparan Charitable Trust are life changers”.
